Sensory Experience With Jo Malone London

What a dream come true! A Jo Malone London boutique is now open in City Center, DC. and I couldn't be more stoked about it. When I walked into the boutique I knew immediately that I had to take home everything in the store once I saw the candles lined up with adorable black bows. The interior was drop dead gorgeous. I was welcomed by a Jo Malone London Stylist who gave me a tour of the boutique and brought me over to the discovery table to explore the variety of scents Jo Malone London offers.

Instead of looking for a scent based on its name or fragrance family, the Stylist asked me what kind of emotion I would like my scent to feel or represent. I replied "happy" and "sweet" and she picked out a couple of scents based on my answer. I thought right away it would be Peony & Blush Suede, but the first one she picked was Nectarine Blossom & Honey and I was blown away. I don't easily show my emotions in public but my eyes began to well up once my nose picked up the scent. Scents really do have a way of evoking memories and it brought me back to my childhood days when I used to go peach picking with my family. Peach is the base note for this particular cologne mixed in with other layered notes such as cassis, spring flowers, and honey. A perfect mix which results in a playful, sweet scent that's perfect for spring and summer. The Stylist suggested that I layer Blackberry & Bay on top of Nectarine Blossom & Honey - oh my, what a game changer. I never though of layering fragrances, but Jo Malone London proved me wrong. To fully experience the scents and create my own signature scent, we walked over to the Tasting Bar where I could test out the scents on my skin with a hand and arm massage. One thing that I truly admire about Jo Malone London is that each scent is incredibly beautiful and that they are attentive to every detail. The stylist decided that we would test out different scents on each arm, but we used Nectarine Blossom & Honey as base and layered it with Red Roses on the left and Blackberry & Bay on the right arm. I typically don't like massages, but the aromas of the scents were soothing and I wanted time to stop just for that moment. I was able to find my signature scent thanks to Jo Malone London. For day, I like to first spritz Nectarine Blossom & Honey and layer it with Blackberry & Bay that has a light, airy scent that reminds me of summer. For night I like to use Nectarine Blossom & Honey as base and layer it with Red Roses, a romantic, flirty scent. 

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, the Stylist gave me a card that had the words “with this gift comes another” – a card that’s good for a complimentary hand and arm massage. With any purchase, Jo Malone London offers this special VIP treatment complimentary for you to enjoy or to gift to a friend. Thanks to this perk I left the boutique with a couple of bags! 

My experience at Jo Malone London was truly magical and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to stop by their new location in DC! A big thank you to Jo Malone London and the team in DC for an experience I'll never forget. I had the best time thanks to my Stylist, Deborah, a day filled with laughter and chit chatting about Korean food and beauty products.
