Paris Is Always A Good Idea

Bonjour! So happy to share my trip from Paris with you all :) Paris really is everything I imagined and more...such a beautiful city filled with beautiful people. I honestly tried not to expect too much so I wouldn't be disappointed, but my oh my Paris is so dreamy. I wish I could wake up in Paris every day! I had a 6 pm flight on Thursday night and arrived in Paris around 7 am on Friday because of the time difference. My friend already had directions to the airbnb we were staying at so we just took the metro to get to the apartment we were staying at. The apartment wasn't ready for check in so we just wandered around Montmartre (18th arrondissement) and had coffee until the host was ready for us. Montmartre is unbelievably gorgeous, but one downside is that there are lots of stairs. But you can't complain when the view is that amazing, it's breathtaking. Just remember to wear sneakers as you have to walk up a lot of stairs. I highly recommend Montmartre if you're in Paris, it's not in the center of Paris but anywhere is easily accessible with public transportation. The metro and bus is relatively cheap (only 1.90 euro) and easy to get around Paris. Since it was the first day in Paris we decided to take it easy because we were jet lagged and stayed in Montmartre area. Everything is so picturesque in Paris, I think my jaw dropped a couple of times because I was in awe.

Here's my schedule for day one in Paris (Fri):
-Coffee & breakfast. Had a salmon sandwich (best 3.50 euro I ever spent) that was delicious at a local boulangerie. The woman who made my sandwich was so nice, seriously everyone I came across was so nice. I think French people may be the nicest people I've ever come across. Oh and I also learned that the French pronounce wi-fi as wee fee.
-Check in airbnb (around 10 am)
-Walk around Montmartre
-Somehow after walking up multiple stairs we ended up in front of the famous pink restaurant (la maison rose) everyone instagrams. Our aribnb host told us when we checked in that it's a big tourist spot but it's not worth having a meal there, maybe just coffee since it's expensive. We decided to take his word and only took snapshots and decided to come back another time for coffee.
-Walk towards Place du Tertre - an area lined up with restaurants, shops, and painters. I loved this area because you can walk around and admire artists paintings and also have your portrait drawn. There are plenty of pastry shops and you can even grab some crepes while you wander around.
-Walk to Basilique du Sacré Cœur, a Roman Catholic Church - huge tourist spot. Sadly I don't have any photos, it was such a busy day Friday afternoon. I think there was an event because the street was lined up with vendors and people pouring their cups with wine. I told myself I would come back when it wasn't as busy but sadly I didn't have a chance to come back. Next time! The church itself is very beautiful and multiple security check points surrounding the area which made me feel at ease. Outside of the church you have a stunning view of the city (pictured above). Sit down and take it all in - what a sight.
-While leaving Sacré Cœur we found a beautiful spot to take photos, the stairs were unbelievably gorgeous lined with lamp posts. Wander around and take your time. You can find hidden gems like these stairs.
-Decided to head to Moulin Rouge. Not much of a scene during the day, it's best to go at night. Lots of shops and places to eat, I would at least go once. I didn't book a show but many people said it's worth checking out. Walked around for a bit and headed back home.
-Picked up some food and went back to our apartment. We went to bed early to get ready for the next day.

Day two of my Paris trip will be up tomorrow :)

Love, Sharon

  1. I miss Paris so much! The city is so scenic, sadly the two trips I went there - the people there were so rude. Downright rude to the point where I felt disrespected for the whole trip. Not all of them were rude, but the majority of them were. Probably cause I speak zero French. Still, I would go back to France over and over again cause it's too damn gorgeous.

    1. oh :( so sorry to hear. I can't speak any French but everyone I came across spoke English so I had no trouble communicating. Hopefully your next trip you won't meet any rude people :) x

  2. Your photographs are so beautiful! I have never been but it's definitely a dream of mine! Looking forward to your next post! Also, did worry about being able to speak French or did you have trouble getting by without knowing the language? I've heard many things (like the commenter above). When I end up going, I will definitely practice it but I'm still afraid of getting lost, etc. haha
